Golf in The Cayman Islands

Can you imagine a better destination for golfing? The warmth of the sun watching over you as you swing a perfect hole in one, the turquoise waters providing a delicately relaxing backdrop and the Trade Winds sweeping in to help cool your nerves. Whether for business or pleasure the golf courses of the Cayman Islands are simply fantastic and great for new golfers as well as seasoned pros. Read on for a few of our favourites.

Britannia Golf Course

The Britannia Golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus – regarded by many as the greatest professional golfer of all time. It comes with two layouts – a 9-hole championship course and a 18-hole short course (which doesn’t seem to be used any longer) and comes equipped with a variety of natural challenges suitable for varying abilities.

Each hole presents unique challenges and its excellent location right on the seaside makes for exquisite views too. Lessons are available so be sure to take advantage if you’re a beginner and the course features a pro shop, rental shop, bar & grille and hosts tournaments throughout the year. The best thing about a Nicklaus designed golf course is his ability to provide players of all abilities with a challenging and rewarding golf experience. Definitely one of our favourites.

Blue Tip Golf Course – Ritz-Carlton

This one is conveniently located at the Ritz-Carlton on Grand Cayman and is oft-described as a “9-hole Caribbean Monster” which features 8 holes on the water – taking advantage of the islands gorgeous natural elements and lending the course a vibrant colourful ambience. There’s of course all kinds of challenges here – with mangroves and water making their mark as well as the islands’ Trade winds that can be both pleasing and problematic to the golfer – that’s half the fun though, right? It’s a nine-hole course that is perfect for both intermediate and passionate professional players. There’s a full-service Golf Shop, tournament conditioning, TaylorMade® rental equipments and junior rates too.

The North Sound Club

This is the only 18-hole Championship course in the Cayman Islands and it’s got one of the best locations too – easily accessible from Seven Mile beach right off the North Sound. If you enjoy being amongst nature then you’ll probably enjoy this the most of all the courses as it’s not uncommon to see birds and small lizards on the course. Along with this – the North Sound Club has a driving range, a pro shop and an outdoor bar, which is simply perfect for relaxing after a round or two. If you’re going to be a doing a lot of golfing during your holiday to the Cayman islands, or if you’re a local then you should take advantage of the weekly packages and special rates that are available here.
